:: Macondray Lane ::
I originally posted a piece on Macondray Lane over 4 years ago. A few weeks ago, I stepped onto this SF gem again.

:: Kelinci Series : Uruguay & Argentina : pt 19 ::
Welcome to the Kelinci Series, in this posting we catch up with our gallivanting, intrepid traveller who finally phones home after a long hiatus. For those of you just joining this series, Kelinci is a fearless, world-traveller, who gets bored easily with the mundane, and thus spends his time globe-trotting while the rest of us hold down regular jobs and lives. He has a predisposition for popping up in various continents according to his liking & enjoys accommodating weather.
This time we see that Kelinci has made his way over to South America (rumor is by boat), and landed in Uruguay and Argentina.
Below, Kelinci has taken an affinity to the appealing Mendoza Wine region of Argentina and presumably imbibed till he couldn’t hop anymore.

The chief port, and capitol of Uruguay, Montevideo, finds itself hosting our guest for a few days. Full of vibrant life, art deco and neo-classical buildings, with a few punctuated skyscrapers, the 1.3M residents take pleasure in this off the radar, charming seaside city. Kelinci spoke highly of the chivitos, open markets, and the Tristan Narvaja street fair

Below we find Kelinci cautiously checking out Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires. Originally intended for only the wealthiest of Argentina (several presidents are actually buried here), once the cemetery opened for common people, you often found murderers buried next to the people they murdered.

You can view the entire Kelinci set here.

:: UrbEx Series : Abandoned Theme Park ::
this place closed after a storm, and never re-opened. sitting idly as the city moves on. not as blithely as it had been for years. These images were captured last year.

A stroll in Buena Vista Park captures a mom and her young child ascending a set of stairs — fall is in the air
:: Dia De Los Muertos ::
November 2nd marks the Meso-American celebration of the dead known as Dia De Los Muertos. Wednesday night I captured some images of this annual festival that honors past loved ones

:: GOSR and SEMEL ::
recently Facebook teamed up with Spotify and held a launch party to celebrate the US arrival of Spotify. However, prior to the event, local graffiti artists, GOSR and SEMEL, were able to completely cover the building in what I must say is a fantastic piece of work.

:: UrbEx Series : Methodist Church ::
lurking around in a sad, forgotten town in Northern Indiana, we stumbled into the abandoned shell of a former Methodist Church.

:: UrbEx Series: Post Office ::
This particular building was constructed for the US Postal Service in 1936, and was designed by the Chicagoan architect Howard Cheney. Cheney worked for the Public Buildings Branch of the US Treasury Department, and also designed buildings for the Public Works Administration.

His work was well known and he was the supervising architect for the construction of the Chicago Tribune Tower.

:: Lunch in August ::

just started messing around with a 35mm Canonet rangefinder this week. Shot above taken on Kodak film. Don’t really know what I’m doing as of yet.
:: UrbEx Series : Union Train Station ::
Mark A. Lang helped design this 2-level train station that sits between the former Baltimore & Ohio (B&O), and, the South Shore & Michigan Southern Line rails. Lang borrowed heavily from the Chicago World’s Columbian Exposition that had taken place nearly 15 years prior to the design and construction. Neoclassicism abounds. It was built in 1910, and by the 1950’s it was abandoned.

:: Poking Around at Harley Farms ::
Harley Farms, located in Pescadero, originally started in 1910 as a dairy farm, but after 6 pet goats grew into a sizable herd, the farm’s founder, Dee Harley, decided to step it up.

You can take a 2-hour tour, meet some goats, the workers, and of course taste some great cheese (go for the honey lavender).

If I remember correctly, this goat pictured above is about 14 years old.
