:: Rhyolite Ghost Town ::
The ghost town of Rhyolite, Nevada sits in the Bullfrog Hills about 120 miles NorthWest of Las Vegas. The town sprang to life circa 1904, and by 1907 reached an estimated population of about 4-5k people. However, its decline happened almost as rapidly as its ascent.

:: UrbEx Series : Abandoned Mental Hospital ::
Capturing these images you see was a very moving and emotional experience for me, as this abandoned mental facility had originally opened in 1842 after a state bill was passed calling for a “State Lunatic, Idiot, and Epileptic Asylum“. By the 1870’s, overcrowding at this institution was a major issue, as local communities sent patients there who were often considered unwanted, or problematic, regardless of their diagnoses. One can easily surmise a lot of suffering occurred here.

..the overcrowding trend continued for another 75+ years as it often vied for the title of “largest psychiatric facility” in the world.

there are an estimated 20,000 – 30,000 unmarked graves here which were only identified by numbered poles — many of which have disappeared.

By the early 1970’s this facility was mostly abandoned. Many people believe these buildings and grounds to be haunted to this day.

:: Kelinci Series : Patagonia & Ecuador : pt 22 ::
It’s been a tad over 3 months since we last caught a glimpse of our infamous globe trotting cotton-tail, better known as Kelinci; featured here as the Kelinci Series — a running photographic essay from around the world featuring our nefarious instigator.
This time we catch a few moments of Kelinci rallying in South America, which he clearly displays some partiality for since he was just there last year.
Here we see Kelinci shivering on a balcony against the beautiful backdrop of the Perito Moreno Glacier located in Argentina Patagonia.

Back on land and further North, Kelinci immersing himself into the historical city of Qito, Ecuador. Which was built on top of the ruins of another city in 1534.

Finally, back out at sea, approaching the Galapagos Islands.

Thank You for joining another edition of the Kelinci Series.
